Custom Van Builds

Meet Manny

“A quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being”.

Hygge.

Perhaps an overly-complicated definition, hygge really just means cozy, and that’s exactly what Manny is. A 130” WB Ford Transit, this van was named after Manny, the wooly mammoth from Ice Age. thanks to its premium wool walls and ceilings, and high-quality wool insulation.

A professional sewist, our client Allie has an affinity for natural materials and textures. It was important to her that her space feel connected to the natural world it is designed to explore, The soft, wool walls paired with natural birch cabinetry gives the van a warm openness reminiscent of golden hour on an autumn day.

Aesthetics and Amenities

Allie was certain that she wanted to use natural fibers and let the grain of the birch cabinetry tell its story. But when it came to amenities, we collaborated to identify what was best for her lifestyle.

A big skiier, it was important for Allie to take the van up to the high-altitude ski resorts in Colorado, so insulation, ventilation and heating were crucial. We also equipped the van with a 20 gallon fresh water tank and on-demand water system to sustain her for longer treks into the American southwest and beyond.

Storage is also crucial for longer trips, so every bit of extra space in the build was maximized. A laundry hatch, ski boot drawer, shoe storage and ample cabinetry ensured Allie can hit the road for weeks or months on end.
