VAN REMODEL

2014 MERCEDES SPRINTER 2500
The Story
My client Abe had recently purchased this van used from an individual off of Craigslist. Abe was able to find a great price on the van, and appreciated the fact that so much of it was a blank canvas. Once Abe purchased the van, we quickly got to work to imagine that the van could look like as his own.
Abe’s goal for the van: to have a home on wheels that provides comfort for long climbing trips, and can serve as a remote office space during longer road trips.
The van had no insulation, no electrical system and little to offer in terms of storage. That said, we wanted to use as much of the existing material as possible. We took the time to develop a comprehensive plan, which involved a full top-to-bottom remodel.
What we changed:
Removed ceiling and wall panels to install Thinsulate insulation
Prime and paint existing wall and ceiling panels in client’s desired colors
Installed 200 watts of solar and Goal Zero Yeti 1500x electrical system
Installed two-zone recessed lighting with dimmer switches
Installed Propex HS200 heat system
Installed an on-demand water system with 25 gallons of fresh water
Built custom cabinetry throughout van, including upper cabinets with LED lighting, bench storage, and sink cabinet
Installed Dometic chest fridge in slide-out drawer within bench
Installed drawer dedicated for camp stove to free up counter space
Added custom upholstered bench cushion
